Our pastor is a native of Scotland who, for the past 18 years, has served as senior pastor and head of staff at Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He started at Christ Church on December 1, 2014.
Norman was educated at the University of Glasgow and received his doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, in 1991. Early in his career he served significant churches in Edinburgh and West Kilbride, Scotland, and from 1979 to 1995, he was senior minister of The Scots Church in Melbourne, Australia.
Norman and his wife, Joan, a retired educator moved to our area following his retirement late in 2014. They have two children, their daughter, Gillian, living in Ontario with her husband and two children and their son, Andrew who lives in Michigan.
Norman’s statement of faith: I believe in God’s purpose for the church. Fragmented, fallible, sometimes unfaithful, the church is nonetheless the instrument that God is pleased to use to bring his lost and erring children home. The church exists in the world as a fellowship of believers, witnessing to Christ by word and deed as his body in the world, expressing a diversity of gifts and a unity of purpose that the spirit generates.
